Mondelez Global LLC recalled 1Z RITZ BITS CHEESE 120 1 Oz Pouches in a Class II action, the FDA tier for products that may cause temporary or medically reversible health effects on Jul 21, 2018.

The recall was triggered by possible Salmonella contamination: "Mondelez Global received notification from a supplier, Associated Milk Producers, Inc. ( AMPI ), of a voluntary recall of Whey Powder Sweet Type as a precautionary measure due to the potential presence of Salmonella. The recalled whey powder is used as an ingredient in various Mondelez Global human food products." Salmonella is one of the most common causes of U.S. foodborne illness, with symptoms that typically appear within six hours to six days of exposure.
